COLLABORATION
PROJECT

The KO/L LABS Collaboration project is a collaboration between 2 Chinese traditional artists and 10 international young designers. 

Referencing our collaboration artist Shulin Wang’s artwork, KO/L LABS integrates traditional art forms in its Season 001 final imageries. Transforming flat paintings into 3D pop-up books and playing with lights like Chinese shadow plays, we would like to bring traditional art crafts into the younger generations.

Most of the designers are straight out of fashion schools and are eager to express their creativity through their designs but found themselves in very difficult places when the pandemic hit, we hope that this collaboration project can help bring more audience to their works.

The 2 Chinese artists, SHULIN WANG and FURONG HO, they are the grandparents of this project’s co-initiator. We wanted to incorporate the most traditional forms of the Chinese art to start this collaboration project and reintroduce crafty Chinese artworks to the younger audience. Unfortunately, Mr. Shulin Wang past away in March last year, we hope that this can be a tribute to Mr. Wang and hope that we can pass on his spirit to next generation.
